Kenyan Restaurant in DC Resurrects

In a previous post, I mentioned my 2 go to places for Kenyan food in the District. Well, there’s a new kid in town, or rather and old kid who left and has now come back Safari Restaurant and Lounge! I was there this past week and the food is possibly far better than the other two restaurants. Please go check it out(also metro friendly, off the Georgia-Petworth metro stop)

No More Smithsonian Folklife Festival, World Cup, What Next?

June and part of July had been filled with events in the District that heavily featured Kenyan culture. I was fortunate enough to attend almost every day of the folk festival where I met almost all artists and artisans and even got the chance to hang out with them. After what was a very draining and demanding few weeks, we’re back to scrambling for events that will bring Kenya closer to home. I’ll keep you guys posted as I hear about events, email me or comment about events you know that are up and coming.

Thursdays in the District!

Thursdays are alive with a lot of activities in the district. Here’s my personal list of favorites:
– Ozio Rooftop Thursday as usual – Great place to meet fellow African professionals while listening to great music
– There’s also a screening of The Samaritans from 6pm. More details here.

– The Smithsonian Folklife Festival day 2 will also be underway from 10am to 6pm.

Whatever your flavor you’re sure to have fun tomorrow in the District! No reason not to! Carpe Diem, friends.
